Okay, So I have tried several times to ./configure and each time i get the same error:

Quote:configure:1503: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

can anyone please help me or link me to a tutorial of some kind for 'new to the bnc business' people? Please?

You need to install a C++ Compiler. I dont know how to do that in cygwin, so you'll have to find it out by yourself (Google!)
