Need help with BNC

ok so it was working perfectly for quite some time now come on this morning to go on IRC BOOM all my channels disappeared wont let me join any other channels and when i type /join #channelname nothing comes up what so ever as if i didnt actully type it. all my channels everything gone any idea

Hi,

With reference to https://bugs.launchpad.net/shroudbnc/+bug/717029 i'm receiving the problem outlined by oidentd dealing with concurrent connections, this is giving users the wrong ident when connecting to an IRC server.

Is there any temporary workaround for the moment for 1.2? Is it possible to use a different ident daemon, e.g. ident2 or would I still experience the same issues as specified in the bug report?

Ok so I went through and installed and all that good stuff... I started it.

I get the message on my irc client

"You haven't set a server yet. Use /sbnc set server to do that now."

I do that

"You haven't set a server yet. Use /sbnc set server to do that now."

What am I doing wrong here.

I have bnc on my user and i reinstaled mirc...now i dont know how to acces to that user....i can see user on channels and i have my bnc password, also i can login on http://www.shroudbnc.tk....all that works but still i dont know how to acces to my original user.

Any idea?

Wenn der User nur in unserem Channel ist UND keinen registrierten Nick hat, muss der Operator entscheiden, ob der User einen Bouncer bekommt. Alle anderen User sollten keine Probleme haben, einen Bouncer zu bekommen, auch wenn sie keinen registrierten Nick haben.

"Registrierter Nick" bedeutet in allen Fällen, dass der Nick mindestens seit 4 Wochen registriert ist (/msg nickserv info verwenden)

Am I wrong or is the SSL support in mIRC incomplete and therefore unsecure?

I am using self singed certificates, as it fits my situation, I don't like to mess with certificate authoritys or even buy a cert.

Mirc does not seam to have a feature to view the fingerprint of the certificate.

Not really 100% sbnc related but I guess this question might come up as sbnc supports SSL and mIRC is one of the most popular clients around. And sbnc devs might have tested SSL in together with mIRC. That's why I ask here.

Maybe I have overseen something...?

Well i have users who have more than 50 channels to join.
Is there a way to let them join more than 50 channels?
I remember that there was a bug with sbnc1.1. sbnc1.1 crashed if you joined more than 50 channels.
Did you fixed this by set MAXCHANS 50?
I hope there is a way to let them join more than 50 channels.

I want to change the security settings for my router to WEP for use with my DS lite. I hear it's pretty unsafe to use WEP, and a hacker can crack WEP in less then 5 minutes. I really want to get online with my DS...but I'd rather be safe than sorry. The router is also used for my brother's laptop, and I don't want to put it at risk.

I also went and looked for the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, but Nintendo stopped selling it.

Is there a way to make WEP safer?

I'm trying to set up and configure sbnc, for ubuntu.
After

I set the user to "isaac" and the password to "test"
The only configuration I did, is to make sure that sbnc was starting (/etc/default/sbnc).

Then I opened up irssi, and typed:

quakenet requires me to use a ident server if I want more than 5 connection to their net.

Certain away messages break the sbnc install

Such away messages and away's seem to break the sbnc install, to which it cant recover. I have currently had to lock the use of the away and awaymessages settings because theses away messages keep destroying the install.

Hanging names in nicklist

Ever time I connect to sBNC with mIRC, I have a number of users being shown in the nicklist that aren't online. I joined today and saw a bot that I removed this morning. And performing /names #channel doesn't refresh the nicklist. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Modes/Ranks arn't being put through sBNC

so this problem has been around since 1.2 as far as i know, but when you connect to the bnc not all the channel modes are put through from the server to the client.

As far as i know this only happens on networks who use ~& as channel ranks for +ao and +q. (irc.seersirc.net and irc.chaosirc.net are the two networks i have this issue on)

Along with them modes it also doesnt show any of the standard ranks such as + % and @. This only happens for the client account the user is connecting to, it will show all ranks correctly for other users even if they are ~ or &. However when hopping/cycling or joining a channel it displays fine, its only when initially connecting.

If you need anymore info you can find me in #Wader on either of the above networks, as well as SwiftIRC. I'm also using 1.2 on Seers and Swift, but 1.3 on ChaosIRC. I would have posted a ticket on the SVN, but the site wouldnt load for me.
